School Based Health Care on the Northern Cheyenne Homelands

Shirl Robinson started as School Based Health Coordinator in January 2024. As Coordinator, the job is to oversee the planning for the monthly clinics we have at each school.
 
We provide Health Care to students while they are in-school. It helps to reduce absenteeism, increase graduation numbers and enhance health care for students on the Northern Cheyenne Reservation. We work with Lame Deer Junior/High School, (grades 7-12)Lame Deer Elementary grades K-6). Head Start students from Busby and Lame Deer, the Northern Cheyenne Tribal School located in Busby, MT grades K-12. (Approximately 16 miles from Lame Dee
Janelle Jewitt
The School-Based Health Center’s mission is to support the health and academic success of every student by providing compassionate, accessible care right on campus. They offer a wide range of services—including primary care, tele-health, wellness checks, physicals, referrals, dental care, and optometry—to help students stay healthy and ready to learn.
As the Clinical Assistant, Janelle Jewitt is proud to be part of this dedicated team. She’s been with the organization for three and a half months and brings 14 years of experience as a nurse in the medical field. Her goal is to ensure every student receives the quality care they need in a safe, supportive environment—so they can thrive in school and beyond.
