The Lodge Approach

UMU with Buffalo Artifacts & AR

Third year students at the University of Mount Union, Alliance, Ohio were taking social studies teaching methods from Dr. Mary Beth Henning in January 2026. They were getting hands-on experience with primary source artifacts about the Northern Cheyenne Tribe. They used Ahtove.org to experience Augmented Reality with Chitat in regalia (first & third picture), researched about artifacts from Randall Tall Bull on the uses of the buffalo (fourth picture), and then touched and talked about the artifacts from the buffalo trunk (second and fifth picture). these students will be using their school’s buffalo trunk created by Randall in their fourth grade classrooms this spring in Alliance. All of the students will be using ahtove.org as one of their main resources while creating detailed lesson plants for the students.
